Founded by champion jet ski racer Franky Zapata, the company originally gained world fame for its water-based Flyboard before pivoting to advanced air mobility. Today, Zapata focuses on hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, most notably the AirScooter—a personal flying machine designed for leisure and urban transport that fits within the FAA Part 103 ultralight category, requiring no pilot's license in the US.
